The Evansville Curmudgeon

Local services. Public money. Straight questions.

About the Curmudgeon

The Evansville Curmudgeon is a local watchdog resource focused on the services, spending, and public decisions that affect life in Evansville, Indiana.

There are plenty of good things about this city. Our job here is to ask why the things that should work sometimes do not—and what would fix them.

Our approach

  • Start with a specific local problem.
  • Show the dates, locations, documents, photographs, and other evidence behind the concern.
  • Distinguish what was observed, what a source reports, and what remains unanswered.
  • State opinions plainly and propose practical changes.
  • Correct the record when new evidence or a resolved problem changes the story.

A pointed voice, a checkable record

The Curmudgeon name comes with a point of view. Criticism should still rest on evidence. A strong argument gives readers enough information to judge it for themselves, including responses or corrections from the people and organizations involved.

Older reporting can explain why an issue matters, but it should not be mistaken for a new inspection or an account of current conditions. Look for reporting dates and source-check notes on revised articles.

Tips, corrections, and responses

Use the submission form to suggest a local issue, share evidence, challenge a factual statement, or explain how a problem has been addressed. Include the relevant article, dates, locations, and links or documents where available.

For a correction, identify the statement you believe is wrong and the evidence supporting the change. For a response, identify the issue and your connection to it. Please avoid including private information that is unnecessary to explain the issue.

What counts as progress?

A complaint that gets attention is a start. A service that improves, an answer that can be checked, or a problem that stays fixed is better. When that happens, it belongs in the record too.

Fix the problem. Give us the evidence. Let the record show it.
